Preparation

It has been a while since our first blog on here and it was pointed out to me that some people would like to know what we have been doing.  To catch you up we have been raising support over the last few months and here are some pictures of a few of the support raisers.

Then we painted a container and a driveway (we had some helpers on this project too)

We need lots more prayer warriors and could still use some financial support as well.  If you have not received a support letter from one of us please leave us a message here so we can get it to you.  Thanks for following us on our journey to Taiwan.

Getting Started

Greg and I have led many youth missions trips.  This will be our first one together to a non African country.  We are working closely with Faith Church in Guam to make their first missions trip happen.  We are focusing on youth, but also anyone with a desire to do a missions trip.  We found Envision (http://weareenvision.com/) to be the group to go with, especially since we have done trips through them before.  We looked up all of the different trips that they offered and kayaked a price for each flight.  Thus giving us a good calculation to take to the church board.  The board approved the trip.  Unfortunately, the first trip we looked into ended up not working out so we had to go back through the process.  We feel that it was God telling us that is not where He wanted us to go.  So here we are working through the process of heading to Taiwan.  If you want to see the other places that Envision services with short and long term missionaries click this link http://weareenvision.com/do/trips/.  If you click the link you can also scroll down to Taiwan and see more about what we will be doing on our trip.  We have made our announcements at church and have started forming our team and working through the process of getting ready for the trip. If you are not sure what all that entails there are 9 papers that were mailed out to those who are interested.  Some are forms that need to be filled out like the medical release, medical form, application, contract and 2 references. Others are forms to help keep us on track like the due dates for money, and the Acts readings dates.  Last, but not least is the example support letter and support response form.  These will help each person explain why they are going and give that information out to family and friends.  Family and friends are the ones who support us not only financially, but by being prayer warriors.  This allows people to know what is going on and how they can best serve you and help you serve.  Along with these we ask that each individual write a one page paper on Taiwan.  This may seem silly, but it does several things for each person.  It allows you to learn about the place, population, currency and other cool facts that will help the person upon arrival. 


Our first big meeting happened a few weeks ago.  We had everyone over for a bbq (for those of you not from Guam, we had a potluck) and talked about where we would be going and what we would be doing.  We have been in touch with the missionaries there and they are as excited as we are.  They sent us a few short clips of things to watch.  This link http://weareenvision.com/taiwan/ (this is an older production, but still fairly accurate) will show you Aroma which is the name of the coffee shop that they use as an outreach.  They also have Sunday night services along with small group activities during the week. We watched this and a few more things to get an idea of what we will be getting into when we arrive in Taiwan.
